Even if you’re not an Instagrammer, you will be if you go to the Mykonos Instagram spots. Even if you’re one of the rare people who doesn’t have Instagram, you should make one before you go. Even if you’re not much of a picture-taker, you will be if you go to Mykonos. It’s just that beautiful.
Mykonos is traditional Greek with a sprinkle of that modern, flashy luxury that attracts the rich and famous time and time again. And you know if the rich and famous are going somewhere, it’s definitely something to Instagram: those people can’t help but share their lives with the masses.
But we won’t deny that some spots are more Instagrammable places in Mykonos than others. Read on for the top spots that’ll help you capture the magic of the island and get everyone asking where you are if you upload the all-important Instagram story.
1. The Windmills of Kato Mili
Iconic and Timeless
The Kato Mili Windmills are, without a doubt, one of the best places to take pictures in mykonos. These timeless windmills stand strikingly in Chora, the main town, and have been places of beauty and landmarks of the island since the 16th century. And they definitely provide a wonderful view of the sky and the ocean.
Top tip: Go at sunset! The golden rays reflected on the windmill magic and spark to the photographs, and the sunset itself is possibly one of the best you’ll ever see. The windmill itself is also a great photo!
2. Little Venice
Where Romance Meets Charm
Walk down the seafront street with vibrant flowers surrounding you—it’s magical. Even if you’re not a lover of flowers, the contrast between the lively-colored houses and the beautifully vivid color of the flowers is a picture anyone would want to see. A stroll around Little Venice is like a stroll around the big Venice (the real Venice).
Top tip: To avoid the rush and capture the iconic views, visit either really early or late in the day. The water reflections of the buildings blend incredibly for astonishing sights.
3. Paraportiani Church
A Whitewashed Wonder
Paraportiani Church is one of the Mykonos photo spots you can’t miss. Its unique award-winning architecture and the snow-white paint blend perfectly with the surrounding blue Aegean Sea. It’s the type of place you’d see on the front of a travel magazine. The church is actually a complex of five smaller churches combined to create a stunning and highly intricate structure.
Top tip: Visit at different times of the day to capture the effects the illumination provides. In the early mornings, the church experiences soft illumination, giving it a dreamy look. In the afternoons, the mark the sun provides collides with the beautiful blue sky with the white walls, a sharp contrast you’ll never forget!
4. Matogianni Street
The Heartbeat of Mykonos
Mykonos Town is where the real energy of Mykonos is. We can talk about the sea, the beaches, and the lighthouses, but in reality, most people come to spend time in Mykonos town.
You’ll find elegant stores, quaint cafes, and lively bars. Matogianni Street is the cultural center and hustle and bustle of Mykonos. This street carries the essence of the island, which is infused with the atmosphere. As the most beautiful flower bougainvillea blooms (you’ll see this from spring to the start of autumn), the narrow alleys transform into chic photogenic spots.
Top tip: Explore the side streets and hidden corners for unique shots that showcase the less touristy but equally beautiful parts of Mykonos. Don’t miss the chance to capture the vibrant street life and eclectic mix of people.

5. Mykonos Beaches: Psarou, Paradise, and Super Paradise
Sun, Sand, and Sea
Back to talking about the sea and the beaches, Mykonos is famous for its exquisite beaches, each the best photo spots in Mykonos. Taking shots at Psarou Beach with its luxurious glamour and crystal-clear waters is enough to make anyone envious.
You can eat some delicious food, go to one of the beach clubs (Jackie O’s and Scorpios are two of the most popular), and relax on the paradise beaches. Everything you do there is a picture moment. We’ve got a great article about the best beaches in Mykonos if you need some advice.
Top tip: Drones can be so useful for capturing the best aerial footage of the beaches and their magical turquoise waters. Take a drone if you can; they’re so Instagram right now!
6. Ano Mera Village
Traditional and Tranquil
If you want to see local life on the island, go to Ano Mera Village. The town’s ancient monastery and lovely town square are a peaceful scene for all your pictures. The local markets and charming sidewalks give you another part of Mykonos to discover away from the busy town center.
Top tip: Take a photo of the Panagia Tourliani Monastery and its remarkable architecture and gorgeous setting. The village’s traditional tavernas also offer great settings for food photography.
7. Mykonos Lighthouse (Armenistis Lighthouse)
A View from the Top
The Armenistis lighthouse—located on the northwest tip of the island—will give you unmatched views of the Aegean and the other islands. Although the almost forgotten lighthouse is quite far from anything else, the amazing views are panoramic.
We’d definitely say it’s worth a visit—you can take the taxi from Mykonos to the ferry terminal at Fáros Armenistís. It’s around 4.1 km of travel, a 7-minute taxi ride, and around €19–23 total, depending on how much the taxi man charges you.
You could also walk from Mykonos town to the ferry terminal. It’s 5.9km and will take around 1 hour and 10 minutes, depending on how often you stop to take more Instagram pictures!
Top tip: Visit during sunrise. The sky boasts a mesmerizing purple color with orange highlights. The rugged coast and the lighthouse will be two of the best pictures you’ve ever posted.
